Why attend the Better Cities Film Festival?

Every year, the Better Cities Film Festival celebrates storytelling and films revolving around cities.

ENU members gathered from around the country to discuss transforming, refining, and improving the New Urbanism movement to be more inclusive, relevant, and applicable for the future. Join for discussions, walking tours, and a collaboration to host a film screening. ENU members also get discounts! Reach out for more information.

When Place Summit meets Film Festival...

This two-day festival was a great opportunity for ENU members to discuss shared passions for cities and film, meet and connect with fellow New Urbanists, and explore the great city of Detroit.

The weekend kicked off Friday with screenings at Cinema Detroit, with the feature film of the night “Raised / Razed” highlighting the impact of urban renewal led by the Congressional Black Caucus for New Urbanism.  Saturday was filled with walking tours with a new ENU friend and a local urbanist champion, dinner with CNU's own Rick Cole, and more film sessions. We had a great conversation with Rick about where he wants to see CNU go in the future and how ENU could support that vision.

Two ENU members, Matt Schaefer and Scott Gann, supported the film festival by sponsoring the last film block of the evening, introducing ENU to attendees, and participating in a panel discussing the themes of the films. A successful weekend outing for the lean and mean ENU team in Detroit!
